At Newsong Church, you will find a community of people learning to follow Jesus together. We are not perfect, and we are not pretending to be. We are people from different backgrounds who are discovering who Jesus is, growing in faith, and learning how to live out the life God has for us.
Whether you are exploring faith for the first time or have been walking with Jesus for years, there is a place for you here. We want to walk with you, encourage you, and help you take your next step toward Jesus and the purpose He has for your life, at whatever pace you are ready for.
We believe faith is meant to be lived out, not just talked about. When we follow Jesus, it changes how we love, serve, and show up for others. That is why missions are such a big part of who we are.
Through our mission partners, we have the opportunity to put our faith into action, serving people and sharing the love of Jesus in practical ways, both locally and around the world.
Church is more than a service. It is a family. At Newsong, we believe everyone has a place and a part to play. Whether it is leading a small group, investing in the next generation, helping create meaningful worship moments, or simply making people feel welcome, every role matters.
Serving is one of the ways we grow and step into the calling God has for our lives. When we serve together, we help build a church where people feel at home and experience the love of Jesus in real ways.
We love our community and want to be a blessing to the people of Lake Norman.

Our Global Partners are:
Our values flow from our desire to follow Jesus together. They shape how we love God, love people, and grow into who God is calling us to be. You do not have to have it all figured out. We are learning and growing together.
Our love for God is the fuel for everything we do. We seek to honestly love God with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. All of our other values flow from this value.
God’s written word and his spoken word sets a framework for us and renews us. We do things because the Bible shows us to. We are committed to teaching biblical truth.
God gives direction in prayer. We realize that we are created to depend on the Father and that apart from God, we can do nothing.
Freely we have received the blessings of God, spiritual and practical, so freely we pass on these blessings. We do this best by serving and honoring others inside and outside of our church family.
We are all created for mission, to proclaim and demonstrate the Good News of Jesus in our day-to-day lives, and to consistently lead other people into God-encounters. We desire to bring Jesus to people.
We are better together. The bible describes us as the Body of Christ, God’s family. Our unity is a powerful sign to the world.
Jesus is the foundation of everything we believe. We come to know God by knowing His Son, and the story of the Bible points us to Him. You do not have to understand it all at once. We believe faith begins with encountering Jesus and continues as we grow in relationship with Him.
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are equal in power and glory. This triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice. We are committed to teaching historical, biblical truth.
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of people, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and His visible return to earth.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit regenerates, sanctifies, and empowers for ministry all who believe in Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer and is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit. These gifts should be exercised in a loving and orderly way during corporate worship.
We believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice, and therefore under condemnation. God regenerates those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service subsequent to regeneration.
We believe in the universal Church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.
We believe that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, committed two ordinances to the church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe in baptism for those who confess and believe in the claims of Jesus, and communion is open to all believers.
We believe in the laying on of hands for the ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons, for praying for the sick, and for the baptism (or release) of the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the personal, visible return of Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, and the eternal blessing of the righteous, along with the endless suffering of the wicked.
We believe that God ordained marriage, and that a biblical marriage is between one biological man and one biological woman, in a lifelong, covenantal relationship with Christ at the center of that marriage.
Newsong Church began with a simple step of obedience. In 2004, Jeff and Julie Watson visited the Lake Norman area and sensed a clear calling from God. Though they had no plans to relocate, they soon left Southern California and moved to Lake Norman in early 2005, trusting God’s leading.
Wanting to serve where the need was greatest, Jeff and Julie asked local leaders how they could help and were introduced to a nearby mobile home community. There, they encountered deep brokenness and a clear opportunity to love and serve people in practical ways.
Out of that burden, Ardent Faith Ministries was formed. What began with prayer, grocery bags, and small gatherings quickly grew into community outreach, worship, and lives being changed. As the ministry expanded, it became clear that God was calling for both a thriving local church and a focused outreach ministry.
The outreach was established as its own nonprofit, Caterpillar Ministries, which today serves hundreds of at risk children every week, while the local church expression became Newsong Church. With focus and clarity, both ministries began to grow and flourish.
Over the years, Newsong continued to grow, move locations, and expand its impact throughout the Lake Norman area. In March of 2025, Pastor Daniel became the Lead Pastor of Newsong Church following Pastor Jeff’s retirement. With deep gratitude for the foundation that was faithfully built, this transition marked a new season for the church.
Under Pastor Daniel’s leadership, the vision of Newsong has been clarified and expanded with fresh direction from God. Today, Newsong Church exists to awaken people to Jesus, His Kingdom, and their calling. Building on a legacy of compassion, outreach, and faithfulness, we are excited about the future and all that God is continuing to do as we follow Him together.
